Breast Reduction FAQ

HOW DO I KNOW I AM A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION?
We recommend our patients be in good health and non-smokers to ensure successful healing. We also recommend our patients have a positive outlook with specific goals in mind for improving their image.
HOW LONG WILL BREAST AUGMENTATION RECOVERY TAKE?
Following all doctors’ instructions is essential to successful recovery. You will need someone to drive you home following the procedure and stay with you the first night.
Discomfort is common following the procedure, however a subglandular placement is less painful. A support bra is recommended around-the-clock for the first two weeks.
Initial wound healing may take 5 to 10 days, at which point you should be ready to return to work and normal activity. Intimate contact with breasts can usually be resumed within 4-6 weeks.
WHAT ARE THE LONG-TERM EFFECTS?
Breast implants can cause naturally-forming scar tissue around the breast implant making the breast feel firmer than normal. This condition is sometimes addressed surgically but is not always permanent.
Breast augmentation does require ongoing maintenance, including regular examinations for breast health and to evaluate the condition of your breast implants.
WILL MY “NEW” BREASTS LAST FOREVER?
A woman can experience a variety of life changes such as pregnancy, weight loss or menopause that can influence the appearance of augmented breasts.
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that your “new” breasts will last a lifetime but with proper check-ups they should be long-lasting. Typical life expectancy quoted by the manufacturer is 15 years.
