Dr. Jon Rast sets a high bar for himself; his focus is on excellence and surpassing expectations.  He likes the challenge in seeing each circumstance as unique.
His passion is finding distinctive solutions, exclusive to every individual’s personal situation. He observes and listens to each patient for their particular objectives, and then applies his training and experience to produce a tailored recommendation.

EDUCATION: Rast received a degree in animal science at Texas A&M University, and then received his medical degree from the Southwestern Medical School at the University of Texas.
He completed internship and a general surgery residency at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, La. Rast also performed a plastic surgery residency at Medical University of South Carolina.
He was awarded a fellowship for hand and microsurgery at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute in Louisville, Ky.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION AND RECOGNITION:  Rast is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a candidate for specialty certification from the American Society of Surgery of the Hand.
He is a member of the Kansas City Plastic Surgery Society, Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Kansas City and he is a candidate to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
Rast also serves as an associate clinical professor at the School of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is affiliated with St. Luke’s South Hospital, the St. Joseph Medical Center, Menorah Medical Center, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Research Medical Center, Doctor’s Hospital and the Surgicenter of Johnson County.
PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE:  Rast and his wife have three children and live in Overland Park.  A runner, Rast enjoys water skilling and all types of outdoor activity.

Rast specializes in breast reconstruction, including microsurgery techniques for post-mastectomy reconstruction, as well as hand surgery for children and adults.
